Dan has given his backing to calls by Bude Energy Community for more to be done to help people with the cost of fuel bills.
Bude Energy Community (BECo) is offering advice for residents struggling with the cost of fuel bills, and is coming forward with plans to lower bills for local people by generating more energy locally.
The organisation has asked local MP Dan Rogerson for his support for the Energy Bills Revolution campaign which wants to see more done to help make homes more energy efficient.
Dan Rogerson said:
“I was pleased to meet with Fred Barker, the founder of BECo recently to discuss their plans and to talk about how I can support their efforts to tackle fuel poverty in the Bude area.
“I am a supporter of the cross-party Energy Bills Revolution campaign, and am pleased that Liberal Democrats in Coalition Government have introduced schemes such as the Warm Homes Discount which helps around 2 million households with fuel bills, and the Green Deal which gives help with the cost of making energy efficiency improvements to your home.
“However, there is more to do, which is why I want to see a national programme to raise the energy efficiency standards of all Britain’s households and to eradicate fuel poverty – cutting people’s council tax bills if they take part. The Coalition Government is making sure that all new homes will be Zero Carbon standard by 2016, and Lib Dems will help tenants afford to stay warm, with new energy efficiency standards for private rented homes.
