£250 million deal will help safeguard our Post Offices

A crucial lifeline has been given to post offices across Cornwall thanks to a major Government key_DanPOLaunceston.jpgcontract.

The deal, unveiled by Liberal Democrat pensions minister Steve Webb, offers support to disabled people and the elderly while also helping to protect the future of the post office network.

It guarantees the future of the Post Office Card Account system until 2022. The Post Office Card Account allows people without a bank account to receive benefits and tax credits.

Dan explained, “This is fantastic news for the local post offices in North Cornwall. I know how vital local post offices are, especially for elderly and vulnerable people who can’t make it to a bank branch to access their pensions, benefits or tax credits.

“I have fought to keep local post offices open and at the heart of our communities, and I am delighted this Post Office Card Account deal means their future is now more secure.”
