Dan Rogerson MP backs local children’s “Send My Friend to School” campaign

Dan Rogerson, MP for North Cornwall, has backed a campaign by Launceston school children to “Send My Friend to School”.

Liberal Democrat MP Dan received dozens of hand-drawn medals, as well as posters and letters, from young people at South Petherwin Primary School and at Launceston College which outlined how important it is that every child around the world has the chance to go to school.

Dan gave the collection of artwork and letters to the Prime Minister and joined the young people in asking Mr Cameron to fulfil a pledge made by world leaders in 2000 to make sure that every child around the world has a chance to go to school.

The Global Campaign for Education estimates that 67 million children across the globe still do not go to school.

Local MP Dan Rogerson said:

“I’m really pleased to be supporting this campaign. Every child should have the same chance to go to school, whichever country they live in.

“It was fantastic to see the effort and passion that the young people from both schools have put into the ‘Send My Friend to School’ campaign. They are concerned that world leaders’ pledge to make sure every child has the chance to go to school by 2015 might not be met, and I have joined them in calling on the Prime Minister to work with other countries to make sure that every child can have a better future.”
