MPs pay tribute to local champion Doris Ansari

Cornwall’s three Liberal Democrat MPs have today paid tribute to Councillor Doris Ansari who has announced she will be standing down after 40 years of service for Cornwall. She was first elected to Truro City Council in 1971 and joined the former Cornwall County Council in 1980. Millions receiving an income tax cut – Welcomed by Cornish Lib Dem MPs

From today, Wednesday 6 April 2010, nearly 900,000 people will be lifted out of paying Income Tax while around 23m basic-rate tax payers will get an extra £200 in their pockets. The Income Tax threshold, the point from which people start paying their taxes, will be raised by £1,000 today to £7,475.
