MP delight at Launceston Post Office reprieve

Dan Rogerson is delighted that the Launceston town centre Post Office will remain open
North Cornwall’s MP, Dan Rogerson, says he is ‘delighted’ that the Post Office off Launceston’s Town Square will now remain open.

Local trader Julie Allen will now run the branch.  Mrs Allen currently runs a business opposite the Post Office, and she has previous experience running two other Post Office branches.

Her takeover of the Launceston Town Centre outlet ends months of uncertainty, and the grim prospect that residents would have had to trek to Newport to access Post Office services.  Mr Rogerson campaigned with local people to keep the branch open, meeting with Post Office officials and making the case for its survival.

Mrs Allen is due to take over in mid-July.

Commenting, Dan Rogerson said:

“This is such great news for Launceston.

“Local residents were rightly fuming at the possibility of having yet another of our valued Post Offices closed down.

“The Launceston Town Centre branch is just where it’s needed, at the heart of the town centre.

“I know the whole community will want to support Julie Allen in making good use of the branch as she develops the business.”
