MP hails road safety process
Local MP, Dan Rogerson, has commended Bodmin’s Mayor, Bob Micek, local residents and campaigners for coming together to discuss a new speed limit for the town.
A packed meeting heard the case for a town-wide 20mph zone, and a presentation from ‘twenty is plenty’, an organisation which has spearheaded similar schemes around the country.
The local Liberal Democrat MP, who spoke at the meeting, was born and brought up in Bodmin, and attended the local school Bodmin College.
Commenting he said:
“Speeding traffic has certainly become more of a problem as the years have gone by.
“One of the complaints I get most often from communities across North Cornwall is about traffic related issues in their village or street.
“I’m looking forward to hearing residents’ views over the coming weeks. The Town Council is taking the right course by consulting widely on a change to the speed limit.
“20mph zones have proved effective in some areas but a zone covering the whole town would need broad support from residents if it is going to work.”
