MP attends charity breakfast in Bodmin

North Cornwall’s MP, Dan Rogerson, went along to Bodmin Jail on Saturday morning to lend his support to Cancer Research UK.

The charity’s Bodmin branch this weekend hosted their annual Big Breakfast at Bodmin Jail – now in its fourth year – to raise much-needed funds for vital research and treatment of the disease.

Experts believe that around a quarter of all cancers are caused by unhealthy diets, obesity or too much alcohol, and as such a healthy breakfast is a great way to start the day.

Dan, who attends the breakfast every year, has also signed up to Cancer Research UK’s ‘Cancer Commitment’, pledging to support measures covering all aspects of cancer, from prevention to treatment and scientific research in order to make the UK’s cancer outcomes among the best in Europe.

Commenting, Mr Rogerson said:

“It was great to see so many people enjoying breakfast and raising money for such an important charity at the same time.

“Cancer is one of the main causes of death in the UK, and it is only with the support of local fundraising that vital research continues into treatment and screening procedures.

“I would like to thank all the volunteers at the Bodmin branch for their hard work and dedication throughout the year, as well as to everyone that came along and to all the local traders who supported the event.”
