Commenting as ballot papers are sent out for the referendum on the future of village schools in St Tudy and St Mabyn, North Cornwall’s MP, Dan Rogerson said:
“I urge people in both villages to make their voices heard.
“It’s clear from the conversations I’ve had with parents that the Council’s favoured solution of opening a school outside both villages is simply not acceptable to either community.
“A referendum, organised through the Electoral Reform Society, is a brilliant way to give the villages a voice, and the Hands Off Our Schools Group is to be congratulated for setting it up.
“The Council and the Diocese have a duty to listen to the results.”
