MP’s Street Surgery marches on
Mr Rogerson has recruited a team of local young people to knock on doors with him, and they have visited more than five thousand homes over the course of September.
Residents have been able to raise any issue with the MP, right on their street, from traffic problems in villages like Warbstow, St Teath and St Issey, to the shortage of affordable housing and international affairs.
Commenting, Dan Rogerson said:
“This is one of the most important parts of my year, since I believe MPs should make the effort to go to their constituents, seek their views, and find out about issues in their area.
“I’ve found substantial support for my campaigns against the proliferation of second homes, and for a fair deal on water charging.
“Meanwhile, residents have brought a whole raft of individual problems to my attention in their areas. Many are relatively small difficulties, which simply need Cornwall Council to pay some attention to them, so I’ve written a number of letters on behalf of individual constituents, and groups of residents, to get grotspots cleaned up and verges mowed. I’ve also passed on concerns about speeding traffic in our villages.
“I’m very grateful to my group of young supporters, who’ve assisted me in going round. More and more people of all ages are getting involved in my campaigns, and I’m pleased to welcome anyone to the team.”
