Wadebridge parking charges plan
Wadebridge Town Council is to further consider plans for the town’s playing field users to pay for parking, after a meeting called by local MP Dan Rogerson.
Both Wadebridge Bowls Club and Wadebridge Tennis Club use parts of the field, and volunteers do much of the maintenance work there. The clubs have argued they should continue to be permitted free parking in recognition of their service.
Mr Rogerson held a meeting with representatives of the clubs and the Town Council last Friday morning.
Commenting he said:
“I’m pleased town councillors and the clerk came to meet representatives of the sports clubs.
“They have a difficult balance to strike between allowing free parking for particular groups on the one hand, and recognition of the contribution those organisations make to the town on the other.
“Many of the clubs’ members are not well off, so I am pleased that the Council is giving this matter every possible consideration.
“I am sure the Town Council would welcome any views other residents and park users may have, and I would encourage people to make those known, and to copy me in on any correspondence.”
