Dan Rogerson responds to the administration of Fitzgerald’s Lighting
Responding to news that Fitzgerald's Lighting has gone into administration, local MP Dan Rogerson said:
"This is heartbreaking news for everyone at Fitzgerald's and in Bodmin. We are all proud of what the firm has achieved in the past. I know that Peter and his team have been trying everything they can do to prevent this turn of events.
"Just recently, I pressed the Prime Minister to ensure that HM Revenue and Customs would take a sympathetic attitude towards local firms who need extra time to pay their tax bills.
"But competitive pressures are just too great at present, particularly as demand falls during this time of economic crisis.
"I have been incredibly struck by the way in which Peter's first concern has been not for his own future, or for that of the company itself – which has been in his family for decades – but for his staff.
"If there are now redundancies, I know he will do the best he can for those affected.
"Meanwhile, if my office can do anything to assist employees or their families we are here to help ."
