MP starts ‘Stride for life’
Local MP, Dan Rogerson, started a ‘stride for life’ at Lanhydrock this weekend with a speech to 400 walkers in which he said that we can all make a difference by doing small things to help, even in global efforts to combat cancer.
Before the walkers set off, they took a moment together to remember in silence the reasons for what they were doing. A short warm up followed to get everyone in the mood for the 10km walk, which particularly focused on research into the prevention and treatment of breast cancer.
Commenting afterwards, Dan Rogerson said:
“Every one of the walkers here today is contributing to a cause it’s in every one of our interests to support.
“Since cancer will touch one in three of us at some point in our lives, there could hardly be a more significant challenge to public health.
“Last year the walk raised over £35,000, so I hope this one will have been as successful.
“Congratulations to everyone who took part.”
