MP hails progress in Boscastle

The completed gateway building, car park and flood defences in Boscastle, are a triumph for local people, according to the village’s MP, Dan Rogerson.

Speaking at the formal opening, Mr Rogerson said the project had been a huge success and should be celebrated.

Commenting afterwards, he said:

“This project is an immense achievement.  Many congratulations to all the parties involved from the Environment Agency to the Parish Council, all of whom have pulled together with villagers to make this happen.

“It is testament to the tenacity of residents in the area that lives and livelihoods have substantially been rebuilt.

“However, some problems clearly remain.  There are further issues to be resolved including compensation but I hope today at least we can celebrate what has been achieved so far.”
