Regional Minister found wanting

Responding to news that Ben Bradshaw has attended the first Council of Regional Ministers, North Cornwall's MP, Dan Rogerson said:

"It's more than a year since regional ministers first took on their responsibilities.

"In that time the title has been used to give the Government a voice in the South West, rather than the other way round.

"If Ben Bradshaw is to convince people across the region, and particularly in Cornwall, that he is their voice in Whitehall, we will need to see him campaign with us to reduce local water bills, abolish the Council Tax, and support services delivered in local communities.

"In all these areas the Minister has so far been found wanting.  When we debated the issue of housing numbers in Parliament last week, he didn’t even show up.”
