Bodmin fire station opens doors to public
Local MP, Dan Rogerson, joined members of the public, at an open day last week, designed to give Bodmin residents an insight into the activities of their local fire station.
Those attending were shown fire safety displays, road traffic collision simulations and were given a demonstration by Charlie the arson detection dog. Money was also raised for Chernobyl Children’s Life Line, a registered charity supported by the fire station.
North Cornwall’s MP Dan Rogerson said:
“This has been a real opportunity for members of the public to see at first hand the range of activities involved with being a modern fire-fighter.
“There are so many vitally important facets to the job such as dealing with chemical spills, rescue operations and the role that fire-fighters would assume in dealing with a terrorist attack.
“I would like to pay tribute to the important work that fire and rescue services in Cornwall, as well as over the rest of the UK, carry out and congratulate them for getting the public involved in this way.”
