Progress at Beacon Technology Park

Residents, councillors and representatives of the South West Regional Development Agency met with local MP, Dan Rogerson, this week to discuss progress with developments on the St Lawrence’s Hospital site in Bodmin.

The RDA confirmed that work on Carew House would be complete in July 2009, providing scope for high-value employment in the areas likeIT, pharmaceuticals and finance.

SWRDA will also bring together all those who own parts of the St Lawrence’s site to get agreement from local people as to the kind of development and housing they want to see.  They will present their initial ideas at a further meeting in July before moving to public consultation later in the year.

Commenting, Dan Rogerson said:

“We are now making real progress.

“This is a good opportunity for people to make clear what they want to see at this end of town.

“I will be keen to see that as much of the new housing as possible is made affordable, and retained for local people.

“There is a real opportunity not just for new homes but for the jobs and community facilities to go with them.

“I will continue to make sure people are informed about progress, and press the RDA to take account of local views.”
