Victory at Tintagel and Bossiney

Local MP Dan Rogerson has welcomed a ‘great victory’ for residents of Tintagel and Bossiney, who have won their battle with South West Water at the Planning Inspectorate.

A Planning Inquiry found in favour of local people, who say the two places should be treated as one settlement, large enough to be entitled to secondary sewage treatment.

Mr Rogerson met with South West Water Chief Executive, Chris Loughlin, last week to discuss the way forward and has written to him to follow up the meeting.

Commenting, he said:

“The Planning Inspectorate found in favour of commonsense.  Anyone who lives here knows that Tintagel and Bossiney should be treated as one.

“This was a naked attempt to install what are essentially two cheap sieves instead of a proper sewage treatment facility.

“Now that South West Water has to go back to the drawing board, I want them to consider the possibility of placing Tintagel, Bossiney and Boscastle together, so that all three qualify for the highest quality treatment.

“That’s the best way to protect our local water supply, and our coastline.”
