MP calls meeting on Beacon Technology Park and Foster Hall
North Cornwall’s MP, Dan Rogerson, organised and chaired a special meeting at the Shire House, which discussed plans for the future of the site.
The meeting considered the timescale for marketing plots at the Beacon Technology Park and the availability of the Carew Building for new office space. South West Regional Development Agency had previously said that plots would be available last year. A number of people at the meeting were keen that SWRDA now make urgent progress at 16.8 acre site.
Commenting, Dan Rogerson said:
“This week’s meeting was extremely positive.
“Officials at the RDA must now move swiftly to ensure high quality development on the five available plots at Beacon Technology Park.
“The multi-million pound scheme was designed to bring 800 jobs to our area. Local people don’t want to wait a minute longer for that to happen.
“Bodmin Futures’ determination to find a solution for the Foster Hall site is admirable and future planning for the whole hospital site, as agreed at this meeting, will need to take account of the issues that they have identified.
“We’ve agreed to return and meet regularly, to press the RDA ahead on both projects.”
Dan Rogerson will chair the next meeting in six weeks’ time.
Notes to Editors: Councillors attending the meeting included Cllr Tommy Denholm, Cllr Linda Spear, Cllr John Chapman, Cllr Steve Rogerson, and the Mayor, Cllr Michelle Griffiths. Organisations attending included Bodmin Futures and Bodmin Chamber of Commerce.
