Lowermoor report: Victims deserve better

Responding to news that the final Committee on Toxicity report on the Lowermoor Water Poisoning incident may not take account of important new evidence, Lord Tyler, MP for North Cornwall between 1992 and 2005, said:

"Next July will see the twentieth anniversary of the disastrous water poisoning incident in North Cornwall.

"The worst feature of this appalling saga is that the political establishment is covering up the cover up.

"Even now, despite the fact that it was under a Conservative government, civil servants cannot bring themselves to admit that Ministers deliberately evaded the truth."

Dan Rogerson, North Cornwall’s MP since 2005, added:

"There have been countless delays in publishing the present findings, yet now officials seem keen to sign them off without looking at the new evidence which has emerged from autopsies in Somerset.

"People are still suffering the effects of the Lowermoor water poisoning today, and they deserve better than to have new findings brushed under the carpet."
