BT success for ‘Steer’ at Port Isaac
North Cornwall’s MP, Dan Rogerson, this week took BT Openreach Regional Director, Bob Challacombe and Area Manager, Pat Garland, to Port Isaac, where Steer (St Endellion Economic Regeneration) are campaigning to have local cables buried underground.
Steer has been working hard with Western Power, and has secured £50,000 from North Cornwall District Council, to fund its scheme. BT was a final link in the chain of stakeholders needed to improve the look of the area.
BT have agreed to examine each cable on an individual basis and work with Western Power to bury as many as possible.
Commenting after the visit, Mr Rogerson said:
“This has been a very successful visit. Steer are doing excellent work in bringing all the key players together to get this important job done.
“I’m pleased to have been able to lend my support, and BT are so far proving co-operative.
“I will be monitoring progress, and working with Steer, as the project continues.”
