Climate friendly parish celebrates birthday

St Endellion Parish has celebrated its first year as a Climate Friendly Parish this week.

The Parish came together at a special dinner at the Edge Restaurant in Port Issac, where St Endellion will received the Village Hall Insulation Award from Community Energy Plus.  The Parish aims to reduce its carbon emissions by 5% each year.

Local Liberal Democrat MP, Dan Rogerson joined residents to speak at the event and congratulate the parish on their success.

Commenting afterwards, Mr Rogerson said:

“St Endellion has really got the message that tackling climate change begins at home.

“The parish’s targets will help Cornwall, and the country, achieve the serious reduction in carbon emissions that the world as a whole needs.

“Dealing with global warming sometimes seems too mammoth a task for individuals to deal with – and the advice on what to do can sometimes be confusing.  Here though, is an example of a whole community coming together to do the right thing.

“This has been an excellent event to celebrate a truly commendable year.  I hope other parishes will be able to follow St Endellion’s lead.”
