North Cornwall’s MP, Dan Rogerson, has lent his support to the Alzheimer’s Society’s awareness week, which will run from 1st July to 7th July.

The Launceston branch of the Society will run a hold a special drop in between 10am and 2pm on Tuesday 3rd July at Launceston Methodist Church, where people can pop in to talk about dementia and discuss plans for a fortnightly memory café.

The café will opened by Steve Cameron, the former Hot Chocolate keyboardist, at the Methodist Church on 13th October. The aim is to offer a place for carers, clients, and those who have lost relatives to dementia to get together and find mutual support. A successful café already runs at Tavistock.

Commenting, Dan Rogerson said:

“It’s very good news both for those with dementia and for their carers that our very active and assiduous Alzheimer’s Society in Launceston is taking this initiative.

“I hope people will come along to hear about their work during the awareness week, and support their plans for the memory café.”
