MP to visit Boscastle. ‘Thoughts with all concerned’
North Cornwall’s MP, Dan Rogerson, is to visit Boscastle this afternoon at 2.30pm following flooding in the village.
The local MP says it appears that the flood defences installed since the devastation of August 2004 had done their job and kept the river within its banks. Drains on the roadway, though, had been unable to cope with the heavy rain.
Mr Rogerson was in touch last night with local Councillor Janey Comber, who kept him informed of developments on the ground.
Commenting in advance of his visit, Mr Rogerson said:
“Clearly a huge amount of rain has once again fallen at one time over the village.
“All our thoughts are with those whose homes and shops have been affected.
“I’m anxious to see and talk to people in the village as soon as possible to see what further lessons can be learned from last night’s experience.”
