MPs welcome opening of the A30 duel carriageway at Ironbridge

Following many years campaigning, Cornwall’s five Liberal Democrat MPs have welcomed the news that the first section of work on the A30 has been completed.

Commenting, MP for Truro and St Austell Matthew Taylor said:

“Like everyone else in Cornwall, I have been stuck many times at the parts of the A30 which are still single carriageway.  Having the section at Ironbridge open will remove one of the largest headaches for people, businesses and tourists at the gateway to the county”.

MP for North Cornwall Dan Rogerson added:

“I congratulate the Highways Agency for the way which they have managed the works and traffic during the construction of the new stretch of carriageway.  Local people and tourists alike will see a huge difference this summer.

“However, the campaign must now move on to securing the funding to add an extra lane between Temple and Bodmin as this section still causes huge tailbacks at busy times”.
