MP says Trust has ‘Seen Sense’ on clinic move
North Cornwall’s MP, Dan Rogerson, today (Monday) welcomed a U-turn from Plymouth Hospital Trust to reinstate a clinic for sufferers of Rheumatoid Arthritis at Stratton Hospital, Bude.
The Trust had restricted these services to their site at Derriford Hospital, some fifty miles away, but changed their mind and reinstated the Stratton clinic, following strong representations from the local Liberal Democrat MP.
Commenting, Mr Rogerson said:
“Naturally, I was contacted by a number of very concerned constituents about what was a retrograde step on the part of the Trust.
“Asking people from Cornwall to drive all the way to Plymouth just to get the therapy they need should always have been out of the question.
“Moving the clinic to Derriford was simply absurd both for the patients who use the clinic and the professionals who serve it.
“I’m very pleased indeed that the Trust has seen sense.”
