MP tours Bodmin Police station
North Cornwall’s MP, Dan Rogerson, this week took a tour of Bodmin Police Station, following a meeting with the station’s Inspector, Ian Marshall who has responsibility for policing in Bodmin, Wadebridge, Padstow and the surrounding area.
Mr Rogerson spent a couple of hours talking through individual incidents and hearing about Inspector Marshall’s plans for the future of the service. On his tour, the local Liberal Democrat MP met police officers involved in everything from traffic enforcement to violent crime.
Commenting afterwards, Mr Rogerson said:
“This has been a very useful meeting. We talked, for example, about the way forward on tackling street trading during the summer, which is an issue I have been taking up in Parliament.
“It’s policing on the ground that really helps to tackle crime, so I want to see local officers freed of the sea of red tape that too often keeps them behind desks instead of out on the streets.
“I look forward to working with Inspector Marshall and his team over the coming months to ensure that policing in the area responds to the concerns and needs of local people.”
