Taylor a ‘loss to Cornwall’ – Rogerson
North Cornwall’s MP, Dan Rogerson, today (Wednesday) thanked his colleague, Matthew Taylor for his “long and assiduous service to Cornwall”, following Mr Taylor’s announcement that he will stand down at the next general election.
Commenting, Mr Rogerson said:
“Matthew has been a great colleague in the Commons. His unstinting work for the people of Cornwall since 1987 has made him a worthy successor to David Penhaligon.
“Matthew’s work, not just in Truro and St Austell, but for all Cornish people, has acted as the cornerstone of contemporary Liberal success across Cornwall. People know that when they elect Liberal Democrats they get hardworking local advocates, who know and live in the areas they represent.
“At the next election, Cornwall is to gain an extra MP to represent its growing population in Westminster. Liberal Democrats will now get to work selecting Matthew’s successor as campaigner for his area.
“Meantime, we will continue work together in our five-strong parliamentary Team for Cornwall to ensure that the Government cannot forget the particular needs and expectations of Cornwall.”
