Rogerson welcomes Lewannick pupils to Parliament
North Cornwall MP Dan Rogerson welcomed twelve Year Six pupils from Lewannick School, Launceston, to Parliament last week, as they visited London for a tour of the Palace of Westminster.
Mr Rogerson met his young constituents in the oldest part of the Palace, Westminster Hall, before taking them to the state-of-the-art Portcullis House to watch Prime Minister's Questions.
Following their tour and the meeting, Lewannick pupil Becky Vine said, "It was a fantastic experience." Luke Roberts agreed, "The House of Lords was great".
Dan Rogerson MP commented:
"It's been a real pleasure to meet these Year Six pupils as they prepare to move into secondary education.
"Liberal Democrats have been key supporters of the citizenship curriculum, and visiting Parliament is a crucial part of that.
"If we want young people to engage with the political system, we must catch their interest early. We know that if young people vote early – as soon as they are eligible – they vote often, throughout the rest of their lives.
"I'm delighted to meet any group of students – and their teachers – who want to come here and visit. They need only contact my office to arrange a time."
