Hospital decision: Rogerson Happy for Stratton but regrets opening hour changes at Bodmin and …

Commenting on the decision made by board meeting of the North and East Cornwall Primary Care Trust today, North Cornwall MP Dan Rogerson said:

"I am delighted that the Primary Care Trust has responded to the strength of public opinion expressed during their consultation, and decided to keep the Stratton Hospital Minor Injuries Unit open on a 24 hour basis."

"Local people in the Bodmin and Launceston areas will no doubt be disappointed that the same level of service could not be secured for their hospitals, however, I do recognise that the Trust are working within a tight budget for health services in north and east Cornwall."

"Discussion must now move onto alternative plans for effective out of hours health services across North Cornwall."

Notes to editors:

At the North and East Cornwall PCT board meeting today it was decided that the Stratton MIU would remain open on a 24 hour basis, but both the Bodmin and Launceston MIUs will be open from 8am to 10pm.
