Rogerson – ‘Newquay airport an asset to Cornwall’

Dan Rogerson, Member of Parliament for North Cornwall today (Friday) joined forces with Cornwall County Council Officers and Liberal Democrat Executive Councillors to meet with the Airport Director, Graham Jackson.

The group, who share concerns that Newquay Airport may be under threat when RAF St. Mawgan is mothballed, toured the terminal and went airside.

With the recent launch of new services by Monarch and BMI Baby, the airport will have an even more important role in the local economy, and the group were able to see how this was starting to impact on domestic and business travel.

Commenting on the tour and talk with the Airport Director, Dan Rogerson MP said:

"It is clear from the visit today that Newquay Airport will be vital in the future for business and leisure travellers alike."

"I am encouraged that new companies are investing in Cornwall when they expand their current business structure, and believe that this is solid proof that Newquay Airport should have a bright future."

"Business is showing confidence in Newquay; we now need that same support from Ministers."

"The Airport is an asset to Cornwall and to the wider South West."
