Dan Rogerson calls for more consultation with local fishermen

Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for North Cornwall, Dan Rogerson, is once again waving the flag for local fisherman with regards to the proposed raise in harbour charges by Restormel Council.

In conjunction with councillor George Edwards and other Liberal Democrat campaigners, Dan is calling for a longer period of consultation with local fisherman about how and when these charges should be brought in and how this extra revenue should be spent.

Speaking out about the rise, Dan Rogerson said,

"I believe that we need to be aiding local businesses of every type. As a Cornishman born and bred I know how important our fishing industry is.

"If Restormel have to bring in this raise, we need to ensure that any money received as a result is pumped back into the harbour and to the industry supporting it.

"We need to ensure that local fisherman are given a chance to air their views and to ensure we really listen to the opinions of those most affected. The only fair way of doing this is by ensuring an extended period of consultation before any raise in charges is introduced.

"I fully support the local Liberal Democrat councillors in their efforts to achieve this balance"
